Instead of developing drugs in-house, Boston Life Sciences (BLS) buys development rights to new treatments from the scientists who discover them. The biotech company then teams with larger drug firms to develop and bring these new products to market. Its lead product candidate is ALTROPANE, a diagnostic agent for Parkinson's disease and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. A unit of Canadian medical supply firm MDS will market the product if it's approved. BLS' pipeline includes antiangiogenesis drug Tropinin, which inhibits a tumor's ability to develop blood vessels, and a potential treatment for Parkinson's.
