CEL-SCI hopes to make L.E.A.P.S. and bounds in treating deadly diseases. Its L.E.A.P.S. (Ligand Epitope Antigen Presentation System) technology modulates T-cells and may lead to synthetic vaccines for herpes, viral encephalitis, cancer, and other diseases. The firm is developing a L.E.A.P.S. malaria vaccine with the US Navy. This vaccine candidate may also be useful against smallpox and other bio-terrorism agents; CEL-SCI has received federal funding to explore that possibility. The firm's lead drug candidate, Multikine, combines natural interleukin-2, cytokines, and lymphokines to make tumors more susceptible to radiation therapy and helps a patient's body produce tumor-fighting antibodies.
