Cengent analyzes genes or proteins to determine their structure and function. From this information, researchers can screen libraries of lead compounds to find "hits" -- potential drug candidates that may act on the gene or protein. Other offerings include StructureBank, a database of protein structures. Cengent has partnerships with about a dozen pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Inncardio, which is developing cardiovascular disease therapies, plans to buy the company.
