Health & Livings

Nutrition :- As nutrition determines the relationship between diet and health, staying healthy includes a balanced diet, staying clean, getting plenty of exercise as well as keeping your heart strong and free of drugs. The science of nutrition attempts to understand how and why specific dietary aspects influence health. Poor health can be caused by an imbalance of nutrients, either an excess or deficiency, which, in turn, affects bodily functions cumulatively.

Health & Livings - stressStress :- Everyone in this world experiences some sort of stress at times - adults, teens, and even kids. But there are things you can do to reduce stress and manage the stress that's unavoidable. Stress is the condition that results when your transactions with the environment lead you to perceive a discrepancy, whether real or not, between the demands of a situation and the resources of your biological, psychological or social systems. For example, when you feel like there are too many pressures and demands on you, or you lose sleep and worry too much about your project you're working on. Eating on the run because your schedule is just too busy also shows your stress. Stress is the body's way of rising to a challenge and preparing to meet a tough situation with focus, strength, stamina, and heightened alertness.

Health & Livings - ExerciseExercise :- When you're physically active you can prevent major illnesses like heart disease, diabetes and colon cancer. Evidence shows that regular exercise can promote healthy blood sugar levels to prevent or control diabetes, promote bone density to protect against osteoporosis, reduce the overall risk of cancer, lower high blood pressure, boost the immune system, and many more.

Many people think that only vigorous exercise or playing sport counts as healthy activity. Yet substantial health benefits can be realized from regular activity without the need for special equipment, sporting ability or getting very hot and sweaty. Swimming, cycling, jogging, skiing, aerobic dancing, walking or any of dozens of other activities can help your physical fitness. Whether it's included in a structured exercise program or just part of your daily routine, all physical activity adds up to a healthier body.

Health & Livings - Low Carb DietsLow Carb Diets :- Low carb diets are based on the principle that a diet very low in carbohydrate leads to a reduction in the body's insulin production, resulting in fat and protein (muscle) stores. The idea of low carbohydrate diets is to ultimately force the body to use fat as its main energy source.

When you tend to cut out carbohydrate from your diet and increase your protein and fat intake, you avoid eating things such as pasta, bread, rice and alcohol and prefer eating lots of meat, cheese and butter.

Health & Livings - Sleep DisorderSleep Disorder :- Sleep is a dynamic process during which the brain is very active. Falling asleep and waking up are controlled by various chemical changes in the brain and in the blood. Foods and medicines that alter the balance of these chemicals also affect how well we sleep. Although medical experts do not exactly understand why the body requires sleep, inadequate sleep can have severe detrimental effects on health. About 50% of adults over the age of 65 have some type of sleep disorder. It is not clear whether this is a normal part of aging, or a result of medications.

Studies have showed, sleep is essential for normal immune system function and to maintain the ability to fight disease and sickness. There are recognized stages of sleep, each of which is characterized by a different type of brain wave activity.

Health & Livings - Women's ResourceWomen's Health Issues :- Women's issues are the greatest disease of all times. It does spread from woman to woman, from generation to generation, and from century to century. However, no cure has been found for a 'disease' which doesn't exist under the eyes of a dysfunctional society, but it's widely propagated, promoted and contagious among women.

Women's health issues are unique and cover a wide spectrum. Although many health conditions affect both men and women, a number of health issues affect only women and some are more prevalent in women. Besides, a number of medical conditions may cause various symptoms in women, affect women differently than men, and may need different treatment or prevention protocols.

Health & Livings - YogaYoga :- Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in India many thousands of years ago. It is the oldest system of personal development in the world encompassing the entire body, mind and spirit. It is the union between a person's own consciousness and the universal consciousness.

The ancient yoga practitioners had a profound understanding of man's essential nature and of what he needs to live in harmony with himself and his environment. They perceived the physical body as a vehicle, with the mind as driver, the soul as man's true identity, and action, emotion and intelligence as the three forces that pull the body-vehicle. In order to these to be integrated, these three forces must be in balance.

Taking into account the interrelationship between body and mind, the yoga practitioners formulated a unique method for maintaining this balance - a method that combines all the movements you need for physical health with the breathing and meditation techniques that ensure peace of mind.

Health & Livings - Back PainBack Pain :- The back is a structure made up of bone, muscles, nerves and other soft tissues. Its function is important for about every move you make. Due to this, the back can be particularly vulnerable to injury and back pain can be disabling. Back pain is one of the most common medical problems, affecting four out of five people at some point during their lives. Back pain can range from a dull, constant ache to a sudden, sharp pain. Acute back pain comes on suddenly and usually lasts from a few days to a few weeks.

Most back pain goes away on its own, as body mechanics often heal the back within a few days and keep it functional for the long haul. Simple home treatment or taking over-the-counter pain relievers and resting can help. However, staying in bed for more than one or two days can make it worse. Surgery is rarely needed to treat back pain.

Health & Livings - DiabetesDiabetes :- Diabetes of any kind is a disorder that prevents the body from using food properly. Normally, the body gets its major source of energy from glucose, a simple sugar that comes from foods high in simple carbohydrates (e.g., table sugar or other sweeteners such as honey, molasses, jams, and jellies, soft drinks, and cookies), or from the breakdown of complex carbohydrates such as starches (e.g., bread, potatoes, and pasta). After sugars and starches are digested in the stomach, they enter the blood stream in the form of glucose. The glucose in the blood stream becomes a potential source of energy for the entire body, similar to the way in which gasoline in a service station pump is a potential source of energy for your car. But, just as someone must pump the gas into the car, the body requires some assistance to get glucose from the blood stream to the muscles and other tissues of the body. In the body, that assistance comes from a hormone called insulin. Insulin is manufactured by the pancreas, a gland that lies behind the stomach. Without insulin, glucose cannot get into the cells of the body where it is used as fuel. Instead, glucose accumulates in the blood to high levels and is excreted or spilled into the urine through the kidneys.

Oral CareHealth & Livings - Oral Care:- Oral care is the practice of keeping the mouth clean in order to prevent cavities, gingivitis, periodintitis, bad breath, and other dental disorders. Oral hygiene consists of both personal and professional care.

Whatever your age, you can and should have healthy teeth and a pleasant smile. Correct dental care can help you keep your teeth healthy for a lifetime. Basic dental care involves brushing and flossing your teeth regularly, seeing your dentist and/or dental hygienist for regular checkups and cleanings, and eating a mouth-healthy diet, which means foods high in whole grains, vegetables and fruits, and dairy products.

Health & Livings - Tai ChiTai chi :- Originally developed in China as a form of self-defense, tai chi is a graceful form of exercise. Practiced regularly, tai chi can help you reduce stress and enjoy other health benefits. Tai chi, sometimes called tai chi chuan, is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching.

The graceful images of people gliding through dance-like poses as they practice tai chi are convincing. Simply watching them is relaxing. Existed for 2,000 years, tai chi is often described as meditation in motion as it upholds calmness through gentle movements - bringing the mind and body together.

Calorie Index:- In almost all foods that you eat contain calories. Calories are simply another fancy word for energy. The body needs the calories in the foods to use as energy. Without calories, we wouldn't be able to even go out and have fun.

For those of you who like to know the varying amount of calories in different foods and drinks, the above link leads to help you along.
